The minister was speaking to the press after laying the foundation stone for the construction of two hotels in Bengo province.
Pedro Mutinde said the centre will be the first of several the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism wants to build in the country to foment tourism.
The project will be funded by a consortium comprising the company ABC and the State-owned Savings and Credit Bank (BPC), with the works starting in the coming three months, according to information released by the above mentioned firm’s CEO and representative of the consortium, João Paulo Tomás.
The tourism promotion centre will include a travel agency, a tourism promotion unit, a cyber café and a restaurant, the source added.
According to João Paulo Tomás, Bengo’s will be the pilot centre that will be followed by others in the other provinces of the country.
“It is an innovating project that will facilitate much in terms of supply of information the local and foreign tourists, “ said the official.
In his turn, minister Pedro Mutinde said that during his visit in February this year to the province of Bengo, president José Eduardo dos Santos directed some ministerial departments of the central Government to intervene in the province and address local Government concerns.
The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism was then instructed to mount efforts and initiatives with local and foreign investors to create conditions for the functioning of social tourism in Bengo, thus generating jobs for the youths and leisure for tourists.
